“You look so happy, Toots!” Sacks said with a giant smile as he looked at Syia, who sat across from him at the table in a small tavern.

“<I do?>” she cooed as she held the Yahmo pup in her arms, with it sound asleep.

“Yeah, and it’s honestly beautiful.”

“<She is, isn’t she?>”

Sacks let out a brief chuckle, which caused Syia to look up from the pup to him with her eyes narrowing slightly.

“<What? What’s funny?>”

“No, no,” he now chuckled before taking a sip of his pint, then answering her, “I, I didn’t mean the pup - I meant seeing this innocence you have with it, that’s beautiful.”

“<Wuh-why?>” she asked with a sincerity that took Sacks aback.

“Why?”

“<Yeah, why is that… beautiful?>”

“It’s… Well, since we met you, you’ve been tense and acting like you’re running for your life, Toots,” he explained while motioning his left hand around before again taking another sip, and then he finished, “but now, with the pup, you seem almost at peace.”

“<I just, it, um, it’s been a long time since I’ve felt—” Syia now started to admit, but she caught herself and turned it on Sacks as she now asked, “<How did you and Augur meet?>”
